BenchTested is reader-supported. This page explains where money may come from and the rules that keep it away from our results.

How we make money

Some links from our reviews, rankings and comparisons to an app’s website may be affiliate links. If you sign up or buy through one, the vendor may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. Outbound links to vendors are marked as sponsored in the page code. We do not show ads and we do not sell reader data.

What money cannot buy

  • No paid scores or rankings. Every score comes from the same written test script and fixed weights published on How we test. Whether a vendor has an affiliate program, or pays a higher commission, has no effect on a score, rank, label or verdict.
  • No paid reviews. Vendors cannot pay to be reviewed, to be reviewed sooner or to see a review before it is published.
  • No score without a test. Apps that have not finished our script are not scored or ranked.

Vendors and free access

We test on free plans or free trials wherever we can, with our own test accounts. If a vendor gives us extended access to test paid features, the review will say so. Vendors are welcome to contact us with corrections or a new version to test, but they do not get to approve or change what we publish.

AI-assisted testing

Our tests are run with the help of an AI agent, which operates the test machine, times each step, takes screenshots and drafts the write-up. A human editor creates the accounts, checks the results against the source and decides the final verdict. See who does what.

Corrections and updates

If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the date on the page. When an app changes significantly, we run the script again. To report an error, use the contact form or email hello@benchtested.app.
